With the children’s return to school, we have sprung in to reading!
Many of the children celebrated World Book Day at school by making book marks and sharing their favourite books in class and taking photographs of themselves doing some Extreme Reading. We had a DEAR Friday- Drop Everything And Read. Whenever the school bell was rung, everyone, and I mean everyone, in the whole school stopped what they were doing and relaxed with a book for a few minutes.
In the same week, M&M Theatre Company thrilled the children with their clever use of technology in their production of The Wizard of Oz. Ever since, the children have been reading their books to collect as many ‘yellow bricks’ as they can for their House in order the win our ‘Yellow Book Road’ reading competition. I can now announce that the winning house is… (drum roll!)… BEECH, with 132 books read!
Well done to all the children who took part. Keep reading; keep enjoying having that special time to lose yourself in a book, entertaining yourself and learning both at the same timeJ.
