Sapphire

Good Morning Sapphire. It’s Friday :) The week is coming to a close. And not just the week, can you believe that’s another half term done? I can’t and I also can’t believe how long that means we haven’t seen each other. I’m so proud of you all for all the hard work you’ve been doing this half term, working from home is very different but you have all adapted and are doing so well. I don’t want it to stay like this forever though.

I miss you all lots and miss all the fun we have together. Have a great break and hopefully we will see each other again soon.

Year 4: Unit 10 Lesson 4. Today you are doing the practise section of this lesson. You will be looking at decimals in tenths, remember that 0.10 is equal, the same as 1 whole.

Year 3:  Unit 14 Lesson 3. Today you are doing the practice section of this lesson. Remember if it helps and you’re allowed make it practical using objects in from the kitchen to measure water capacity.

Daily calculations are there for you to enjoy and complete.

Today’s English is a Free Write. You are going to think and share your ideas about the short piece of text. Then use this to help complete your writing. Remember to challenge yourself, keep looking back at the checklist and the ideas you came up with. You can always take a picture of your writing and put it on the blog for me to see.

Take care over the half term break, stay safe, stay happy, keep being good.

A very heartfelt thank you parents for keeping on going with the learning from home, I know it’s not easy but I can see you are all doing an amazing job. Thank you again.

Miss Redagte.

Reading Activity 18th May

This week can you create a map for the story you are reading or one you have read.

Use the main settings and label the journey your character takes.

You can label the map with key vocabulary from the text.

Good Morning Sapphire. It’s Thursday, which means one more day until Friday and then it’s half term. Did you enjoy writing your poems yesterday? I hope so. There are some on the blog for me to read and enjoy today. Thank you. I also see lots of you have made a great job of your story maps for the reading task. Good Work!!! :)

Parents...... Just thank you.

Year 4: Unit 10 Lesson 4. Today you are doing the Discover, Think and Share section, do you understand it. You will still be working with decimals, it’s quite tricky but keep going and keep looking back over the help section if needed.

Year 3:  Unit 14 Lesson 3. Today you are doing the Discover, Think and Share section of this lesson. You working on capacity using number lines, part whole model and  bar models.

Daily calculations are there for you to enjoy and complete. If you want more of a challenge, use a dice to create 3/4 digit sums to add or subtract.

For English today it is still poetry, but you are looking at a type of poem called a ‘Cinquain.’ It’s a 5 lined poem that again uses a pattern of words chosen by how many syllables is needed on each line. Have a go and upload your finished pieces.

I miss being able to teach you these, as the poetry we are doing is one of my favourite things to teach as you can be so creative. Enjoy.

All work to be written in your book no printing out needed.

Missing you crazy bunch of lovelies:)

It’s Wednesday, Hump Day, I hope your sun creamed up for a very hot day.

Again more work posts on the blog! The work you are all doing is great, keep going keep sharing it with me. Today is going to be very warm so remember if you’re outside to wear sun cream, have water and of cause a sun hat which makes you look really cool :)

Quick note, don't forget to share 2 different pieces of work this week on the work blog and that one should be the reading task.

Year 4: In maths today I have an investigation for you, it’s called straw squares. Read the instructions carefully, it’s all about making as many squares as you can with 20 straws. If you don’t have straws be creative use pencil crayons, twigs from the garden etc. Just as always Have fun!! Remember if you didn’t use straws tell me on the blog what you did use.

Year 3:  In maths today you also have an investigation. It’s called ’Shopping.’ You have £10 and are buying items from a cafe. Take your time read the questions and if need be do it for real! Get items out of your cupboards, buy and sell them. Make it a game! I played this a lot growing up and me and my brother and sisters loved it :) Please have fun and let me know on the blog.

Daily calculations are there for you to enjoy and complete. If they are to easy ask an adult or older person in  your house to write you more challenging. Or tell me on the Sapphire Miss Redgate blog.

Today in English we are thinking about Haiku poems, these are made up by syllables in words. Remember you used to tap out the syllables e.g su-gar, but-ler both two syllables. A haiku poem follows a syllable pattern of three lines and is 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables. They are great fun to make once you use your hands or fingers to palm to clap out the syllables in each word. Read the instructions and try create your own. I would be very excited to read these so if you like it and want to share send them to me.

As you can see, hopefully, from my video on the website I love poems and especially from children that are just learning how they work. Enjoy this as it’s a favourite of mine to teach. So looking forward to read the results.

Enjoy your learning today, I wish we were in class and I could work with on all of it. It’s a good day.

Earn the afternoon in the sun class Sapphire,

Miss Redgate.

Good Morning Sapphire. It’s Tuesday and it’s sunny! So hopefully means some time outside for fun and games:) Again well done on all the work people have uploaded or sent a comment about so far. Please keep it up.

Year 4: Unit 10 Lesson 3. Today you are doing the practice section of this lesson. You will be looking at decimals in tenths, remember that 0.10 is equal, the same as 1 whole.

Year 3:  Unit 14 Lesson 2. Today you are doing the practice section of this lesson capacity. What is capacity? It is a unit of measurement used to see how much is being held. Work carefully through the lesson and if you have any questions or confusion tell me on the our blog.

Daily calculations are there for you to enjoy and complete.

Today in English you need to watch the video of the clock tower and are going to write as many words as you can to do with the clip whilst watching it. Then read the instructions carefully to see what to do with them

Hoping we'll be together again soon,

Miss Redgate.

Good Morning Sapphire, It’s Monday again the start of a new week, the start of new learning. I hope you all had a nice relaxing weekend and did some nice, but safe, activities inside and out. I have baked some brownies and done some running:) I can imagine you’re not surprised at these things:)

There is a new reading activity for you this week, I'd like to see this as one of your uploaded pieces of work to the work blog and you can choose any other activity you want to share with me as the other.

Year 4: Unit 10 Lesson 3. Today you are doing the Discover, Think and Share section, do you understand it. You will still be working with decimals, it’s quite tricky but try to remember they are parts of a whole number.

Year 3:  Unit 14 Lesson 2. Today you are doing the Discover, Think and Share section of this lesson. You working on capacity using number lines, part whole model and  bar models and .

Daily calculations are there for you to enjoy and complete. If you want more of a challenge , use a dice to create 3/4 digit sums to add or subtract.

For English today it is the start of a new stimulus, this is something we use to help us create and think of ideas for ourselves, take a look at the picture and work your way through the activity. All work to be written in your book no printing out needed. Be just as creative as last week.

It has been a great week for work uploads and comments, please keep it up!!

Have a lovely day my wonderful class.

Good Morning Sapphire. Yippee it’s Friday again and it’s sunny! Thank you for all the great work posts yesterday, it’s fantastic to see how hard you have all been working and how well you’re doing. I hope you keep up the good work with the activities I have for you today.

Year 4: Unit 10 Lesson 2. Today you are doing the practise section of this lesson. You will be looking at decimals in tenths, remember that 0.10 is equal, the same as 1 whole.

Year 3:  Unit 14 Lesson 1. Today you are doing the Discover, Share and Think and practise section of your new unit capacity. What is capacity? It is a unit of measurement used to see how much is being held. Work carefully through the first lesson and if you have any questions or confusion tell me on the our blog. Note to parents, I apologise for the mix up yesterday with the maths, it was the wrong activity, the correct maths is on here today. Sorry for any confusion caused.

Daily calculations are there for you to enjoy and complete.

Today in English we are thinking about bringing together all the parts of writing you have practised this week. You are going to be doing a short write. Look carefully at the instructions to help you write a super piece of writing describing your item and where you found it.

Remember a descriptive piece of writing uses rich vocabulary. In other words adjectives :)

Work hard and earn the weekend off,

Missing you class Sapphire,

Miss Redagte.

Good Morning Sapphire. It’s Thursday, I hope you enjoyed the Maths investigation yesterday? I think these are great and have fun doing them myself. It’s been a lot colder over the last few days so more time inside, hopefully the weekly activities have been keeping you going and off the computer games:) To keep active don’t forget Go Noodle.

As always don’t forget to send me some work through our work blog. It was lovely to see the work you have done so far this week. Well done, I feel so proud of our class when I see the effort you are putting in. Let me know if you have a reward system at home as I would love to give out house points for lots of the work I'm seeing :)

Year 4: Unit 10 Lesson 2. Today you are doing the Practice Section of this lesson. You will be looking at decimals in tenths, remember that 0.10 is equal, the same as 1 whole.

Year 3:  Unit 14 Lesson 1. Today you are doing the Discover, Share and Think section of your new unit capacity. What is capacity? It is a unit of measurement used to see how much is being held. Work carefully through the first lesson and if you have any questions or confusion tell me our class Sapphire blog.

Daily calculations are there for you to enjoy and complete.

Today in English we are thinking about similes. Similes describe something like it is something else or compare it to something else. E.g The boys hair was as dark as night. The girl's hair was as soft as silk.

Today you are going to think about your lost thing and use similes to describe it.

E.g My umbula was as clear as a newly cleaned window.

The umbula was clear like a blue sky on a summers day.

Unicorns and fairies

Keep happy,

Miss Redgate

It’s Wednesday, Hump Day, hope your bright and breezy.

I was really pleased to see how some of you had enjoyed yesterdays create your own lost thing. You were all so creative, whether you drew it, made it, or explained it they were all fab and it made me happy that you shared them with me.

Remember when you use the blogs to share on the right one. Work blog for your wonderful work and Sapphire for everything else. Take a look at the Sapphire class blog today I have uploaded loaded something to play with a family member.

In Maths today we have another maths investigation for you, it’s called Difference Next Door. Read the instructions carefully, it’s all about odd numbers. Remember an odd number is a number you wouldn’t find in the 2 times table. You Have fun.

Today in English we are thinking about prepositions. Prepositions tell us where things are. Think are share your ideas linked to the picture and then write some prepositional sentences about where you might have found your lost thing, try hard to also include some adjectives to describe.

E.g My gold, shiny umbular was hidden under the dark, dusty bed.

Hello Sapphire, It’sssssss Tuesday! Did you enjoy the ‘Lost Thing’ yesterday? Did you think of some good questions to ask? I hope you’ve got your work brains warmed up for the rest of the weeks learning. Don’t forget to send me some work through our work blog. It was lovely to see the work you have done so far this week. Good Morning Sapphire, It’s Monday again! I hope you had a lovely bank holiday weekend and have had the opportunity to celebrate VE day. We had a street party across the fences in the back garden. Everyone stayed in their own garden but we could all talk over the fences.  You have a new section of weekly tasks to do as you want to throughout the week, these include an exciting experiment making invisible ink, creating a chase game on scratch and a lovely new art session. This week, we start a new unit in your maths: decimals. For this, I have included some printable resources that might help you when you are working through the tasks over the course of this unit. If you cannot print these off, then you can quite easily copy these and make your own. Please don’t feel you have to use these, but I thought that this would be more in keeping with how we would learn this in school.

Year 4: Unit 10 Lesson 1. Today you are doing the discover, share and think section of this lesson. You will be looking at decimals this week. We haven’t done these yet so look carefully during this section of the book and ask questions if you get stuck. Mistakes and advice mean we are learning.

For English, take a look at the clip and think about performance. Yes that’s right time to perform one, or both, of the poems to your family. Maybe you could video call a relative and do it to them? Or simply to yourself in a mirror if you’re feeling shy. :) You could be really, really brave and record it and add it to the work blog for all of Sapphire to watch and enjoy. It’s up to you. :)

I am checking the blog daily and waiting to see the wonderful work you've been doing. So go on make my day and send me some work.

READ ME: If you are trying to upload a video of your performance poetry to the blog and are struggling, send it to the office just asking it to be forwarded to me. We have lots of fun learning new things together with our teacher, Miss Redgate and this page is designed to keep you up to date with what we are learning.

Parents are always very welcome to phone or come and have a chat with Miss Redgate if there are any concerns or questions.

A few reminders:

We have Outdoor P.E every Monday and on Fridays we have P.E. indoors.

Our homework is always issued on a Thursday and a letter for parents will always be included to explain the tasks. Spellings are issued every other week and we have a spelling test every two weeks on a Friday.

Sapphires are known for their sparkle and that is what we try to encourage in our class!

We aim to create a supportive environment in Sapphire Class where we learn to work together to the best of our ability. You are welcome to pop in to speak to me if you have any concerns or just have a question you’d like to ask.
