Dear Parents and Carers,
The children in Years 5/6 now have there own Reading Diary to keep track of their daily reading for pleasure. When they read at home they should write the date, book title and page number that they are on. Once a week we would like you to sign their diary if you are happy with their reading at home and we will also initial or stamp it once a week at school. Reading is vital skill for life but when you read often and with enthusiasm, usually just for the sheer fun of it, you lay foundations that last for life. You empathise and you access information more easily. You learn to express yourself verbally and in writing. You learn to interpret and potentially change your world. So please encourage your child to enjoy reading and for you to enjoy reading with them.
Many Thanks, The year 5/6 team.
